Our 1st Family Camping Trip

Over the first weekend in October our family went camping for the first time. I haven’t taken the time to post about it yet, but I wanted to mark the trip before it faded too far from memory. My wife and I haven’t been camping in years, even though we both really enjoy it. The last time we went was a short backpacking trip with friends (and our Lhasa Apso puppy, Tre) in Utah. Wow…Could that really have been 9 years ago?

This most recent trip was special because it may be the only time we get to go as a family before our oldest daughter starts college. We chose Rose Canyon campground as our destination, which I had never been to before. Even though we only stayed one night (we didn’t want to push it since the baby was with us) we had a wonderful time! It did get a little cold, getting down to about 40 degrees. We weren’t exactly prepared for that, and the baby and my wife both had difficulty sleeping. But besides that, it was a lot of fun. The kids loved making smores, sleeping in the tent, and exploring the outdoors. We hope to be able to get some more camping gear and do it again soon.
