“One Greater than Jonah” (Jonah 1)

Yesterday was my first time preaching a sermon from the book of Jonah. There’s a reason that we’ve decided to go through the book of Jonah at this particular time. Our church is now more than two years past our unification and new identity as GracePointe. We’ve come a long way since those first times of meeting and worshipping together. But I think all of our Elders sense a need for our “Passion Statement” to be more than just a slogan. It needs to truly represent our passion…

We don’t want our church to go back to being comfortable. We don’t want to devolve into complacency. We want to be true worshippers who are passionate about God and His mission in the world. At the end of this sermon on Jonah I’ll have the opportunity to present a more focused vision of how our Elders believe God is leading us to engage our community with the gospel. So, I’m looking forward to and praying for us to embody our Passion Statement: Pointing diverse people to God’s grace and growing as a family united around the gospel of Christ!
