Top Books I Recommend About…

BIBLE STUDY AND INTERPRETATION

  • Living By the Book: The Art and Science of Reading the Bible by Howard and William Hendricks. This is an introductory text and a great place to start for a beginner who wants to “dig deeper”. A nice Workbook is available as well! Check out my notes on this book.
  • Exegetical Fallacies by D.A. Carson. This book is written primarily for pastors and those who have some academic training in the Scriptures, and it hits that mark exceptionally well! Some academic training and knowledge of the original languages of the Bible is helpful to understanding the content and putting it into practice. Check out my notes on this book.

MARRIAGE

  • When Sinners Say “I Do” by Dave Harvey. This isn’t a hard read. But it is challenging, convicting, and encouraging. One of the best books on marriage around! You can read my notes on this book for more about it.

PASTORAL MINISTRY

  • Gilead: A Novel by Marilynne Robinson. This isn’t a theology book. It’s not a “how to” manual, either. Instead, it’s a thought-provoking and beautiful novel that paints the internal life of a pastor like no other story I’ve read. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in pursuing vocational ministry. You can read my notes on this book if you’d like.
