“Baptism: Personal Faith Goes Public”

On the first Sunday of May, I took the opportunity to preach on the meaning of water baptism when we at First EFC had a baptism service. It wasn’t unrelated to the current sermon series on Colossians, since we were right in the middle of talking about baptism and being buried with Christ and raised with Him by faith in Colossians 2:12-3:4. “Citizens Worthy of the Gospel by Grace” (Philippians 1:27-30)

As a follow-up to my last post, here’s the sermon that I preached on Philippians 1:27-30 over the Independence Day weekend. It was good to reflect on the role of my heavenly citizenship in daily life. One of the things I enjoyed the most in writing this sermon was looking back to the time of the American Revolution and researching a little bit on how Christian leaders thought through the issues.
