On the first Sunday of May, I took the opportunity to preach on the meaning of water baptism when we at First EFC had a baptism service. It wasn’t unrelated to the current sermon series on Colossians, since we were right in the middle of talking about baptism and being buried with Christ and raised with Him by faith in Colossians 2:12-3:4. “The Gospel of Hope that Bears Fruit”

Well, this sermon is the first to my congregation as their newly installed Pastor. I decided to make my first series a journey through Paul’s letter to the Colossians, mostly because it focuses on the supremacy of Christ over all things. This message was from Colossians 1:1-8. The theme of this book is one that I’d like to be central to my pastoral ministry, so it’s a good place to start!
