…the root cause of our lack of engagement in God’s mission is not a missions problem but a gospel problem. We demonstrate by our inaction that we no longer marvel at grace. We are unaffected by the beauty of what God has done for us in Christ.

On Keeping Teaching Focused on Christ
We sometimes get so busy thinking that people need more information or better application that we forget that our main task is to lead people to exultation…we exult—we delight in the Savior we exalt.

On Motivation
If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery, “The Wisdom of the Sands”
I came across this quote today (though I’m not sure it’s 100% accurate) and I think it applies wonderfully to pastoral ministry and the life of discipleship. It reminds me that I have a lot to learn about motivating myself and others. I need to keep a beautiful vision of God in front of me if I’m going to live a life worthy of the gospel and do the work of ministry.
God’s Will And Missions
To know the will of God, we need an open Bible and an open map.
